Think You've Got Unique Music Taste, New York? Turns Out We All Love Lady GaGa, Shun Taylor Swift

MANHATTAN — Are you goo-goo for GaGa? Ready for a Vampire Weekend? If so, you're in good company according to data from online music player Web site Last.fm.

The Web site tracks New Yorkers' musical favorites and ranks the top 50 most popular artists each week.

It's no surprise that classic bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were consistently top picks but New Yorkers loved their locals too.

The fantastically freakish Manhattan native Lady GaGa moved into the top 10 at the end of last year and Brooklyn born Jay-Z's hit album "The Blueprint 3" propelled him up the charts after its release in September 2009.

Vampire Weekend's number one album shot the Morningside Heights group into the top five in recent weeks.

New Yorkers were choosy with their music picks — hot mess Amy Winehouse barely registered and Taylor Swift may have scored four Grammy's but New Yorkers didn't care — the country star didn't even break into the top 50.

New York's current top five faves are Radiohead, Lady GaGa, Vampire Weekend, the Beatles and Phoenix.

I'm sure Kings of Leon will be at the top in a few weeks after their Grammy win. And I'd say your tastes are indeed awesome.

Well I've been obsessing over Kings of Leon and Lady Gaga so I guess my tastes are...pedestrian? common? or maybe just Awesome.

Only a few of my top artists are even in the top 50 list. Does that mean I have unique music taste? I'll take that as a yes.
